Corruption, Governance, and the International System

Description

This is a research workshop concentrating on issues growing out of international efforts to improve the quality of governance, reduces corruption and foster the rule of law. It examines the successes and failures of programs such as the Millennium Challenge Account, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, and World Bank Rule of Law Assistance Funding to evaluate the effects and capacities of these efforts on behavior and institutions in domestic systems. Students are expected to participate in research design and writing associated with analyzing and interpreting the impacts of these and similar programs on incentives for economic growth and more and less democratic forms of national governance.
